Learn playing the 12 hole Chromatic Harmonica (Mouth Organ) using Indian (Hindustani) Sargam Notations

This course is for beginners who want to learn Indian songs using the Sargam notations, which form the basis of Indian classical music ( Hindustani or Carnatic ). The instructions are in Hindi. However, subtitles are available in English to help those who are not proficient in Hindi.

While the notations are provided in document format, the emphasis is on learning by singing the notations in the flow of the song. This approach improves the ability to memorise the notations and understand the rhythm and articulation better than using written notes.

Songs were included based on their degree of difficulty - either beginner level or intermediate level. Easy-to-play songs were chosen to encourage people to start using the chromatic slider and develop proficiency in it.

The course also includes information on the build of the harmonica, the form factor, and the layout. It will also help students understand the chromatic scale in the context of Hindustani music, and the nomenclature used for identifying these notes and their corresponding octave or saptak.

Apart from this, other aspects covered include the correct way to hold the harmonica, the proper breathing technique while playing, the ideal posture, and addressing common issues such as dryness of the mouth, harmonica hygiene, and playing and practising with a metronome to improve rhythmic playing.
